The patented grip is the whole point

An ordinary vinyl rescue tube turns slick the moment it gets wet, which is the exact moment a guard cannot afford to lose hold of it. The ExoTube's patented construction (U.S. Patent No. 6,475,047) bonds a nylon mesh casing to a closed-cell foam core under a polyurethane coating. The mesh completely encases the tube to prevent splitting and gives a firm, textured grip that holds even with wet hands and under rescue stress. That is why aquatic facilities standardize on the ExoTube instead of a rebranded commodity tube.

Full 50-inch professional length

At the standard 50 inches, the tube wraps a distressed swimmer with room to spare and carries the buoyancy a guard needs for full-size pools and open water. A 6 foot towline runs the full length of the tube, and the 2 inch wide adjustable shoulder harness lets the lifeguard swim with both hands free. The high-visibility color is recognized internationally as the color of water rescue.
